Wider school opening from June 1st

Transition Days

Friday 17th July will be the last day of term for Years R, 1 and 6 so that we can invite the rest of the school in for a transition day with their new teacher.  Please collect your child at their normal pick up time.

Monday 20th July - Year R children who have not been in to school this term and half the class for current Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 will go into their new classroom with their new teacher.

Tuesday 21st - closed for cleaning (open for key workers if necessary)

Wednesday 22nd - Year 1 children who have not been in to school this term and the other half of current Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 will go to their new classroom with their new teacher.

We will continue to offer provision for our existing key worker children until Wednesday 22nd July but we would be very grateful if parents would only send their child if they are working and cannot organise any other childcare for that week. Unfortunately, children in this group will not be able to join the rest of their class for the transition day if they are in the key worker group that week as they cannot move between groups.

Parents' views of the wider opening of the school:

"Fantastic response to a difficult situation. All the planning and organisation of the measures that had to be put into place cannot have been easy. We felt confident that our child would be safe and happy returning to school and feel we made the right decision for us all. He has benefited from returning to his routine and really enjoyed the important social interaction with his peers. Thank you for all your hard work!"

"Going back to school has been such a positive experience and I think given the challenging times we are in, the school have done everything they can to keep the children safe and continue their learning."

"Having my child back in school has been a positive experience all round. In particular on both our mental well being. The teachers have been brilliant and I’ve found the staggered drop off and pick up times have actually made the school run a lot easier."

Wider opening - parent survey responses

Children's view of the wider opening.

Before I came back to school I was a bit shy. I was a bit nervous because I didn't know how things would have changed but I'm quite comfortable now. I really enjoy being back with and playing with my friends.

I was feeling nervous because I wasn't sure what to do before I read the social story. Coming back felt a bit weird at first but I am enjoying it now! The best things is I can see my friends and it is easier to do lessons here than at home.

Before school I felt it was going to be quite weird. It is better than I thought! I like that I can see some of my friends. I prefer learning at school because I sometimes got distracted at home.

Before I came back I wasn't sure what to do or what the rules might be. Now that I am at school I like practising my maths and writing because the teachers can help me. The best thing is seeing your friends again!

I like being back at school because I can do lots of learning and because I can play with all my friends.
