  • World Book Day

    Thu 12 Mar 2020

Last week we celebrated World Book Day and the children and staff all dressed up as their favourite book character – there were lots of great costumes!

We had a lovely ‘Share a Story’ breakfast party so thank you to class reps for organising refreshments and all parent donations.   In the afternoon we enjoyed a whole school assembly where teachers shared their favourite books.

  • Green Class Visit Gilbert White

    Thu 05 Mar 2020
On Monday, Green class visited the Gilbert White Field Studies Centre and completed a hands on river study in the Oakhanger stream. We were treated to some sunny spells and a fantastic day was had by all - albeit with some soggy feet!  All of the children behaved brilliantly and thoroughly enjoyed getting into the river to calculate a cross section, measure the velocity (using a rubber duck!) and took samples using nets to discover the creatures that live in the river. Following a quick lunch, Green class then ventured up a steep zigzag hill path where they enjoyed being able to see their classmates above and below and had amazing views across Selborne and the river landscape at the top. Overall, a great day was had by all and the children really demonstrated their knowledge and enthusiasm for our rivers topic. We would like to say a huge thank you to our parent volunteers who helped make this trip possible
