  • Festival of Reading

    Fri 25 Nov 2022

The week starting Monday 9th January is going to be our Festival of Reading in school. We’re coming up with lots of ideas to get children and adults excited about reading in our school and will be sharing these with you soon. It will involve chances for you to come in and share a book with your child (or maybe even their whole class if you’re brave), and to come in and buy or swap second hand books. We want to make this week a special celebration of everything we can get out of reading. If you know any local writers, authors or playwrights who might be prepared to come in and talk to the children about what they do, please do point them in our direction. We’d love to have some special visitors to add another ‘wow’ factor.

  • Odd Socks!

    Fri 11 Nov 2022

The week of Monday 14th November is Anti-Bullying week in schools across the country. On Monday of that week, children (and adults) are welcome to come to school in odd socks to show off their uniqueness, individuality and their support for diversity. The rest of their uniform should be as normal.

We will be working with the children throughout the week in PSHE lessons about this important topic.

  • Pond Life

    Fri 04 Nov 2022

This week, we have started getting the children to have a look at our new pond area. There is still some planting to be done to make the area into a woodland garden and give some colour but the project is largely complete. It couldn’t have been achieved without support from lots of places: the members of the PTA like Mrs Mosses, Mrs Sharkey who was part of the planning, our local District Council, Transform Landscaping who did the work, and the Fircroft Trust. I would like to say a big thank you on behalf of the whole school community to two people. Firstly, Mr Brian Rogerson, one of our grandparents, who came in over the summer holidays to oversee the beginning of the work while I was on a sun lounger in Barcelona. Secondly, to the man who project managed the whole affair and made sure that everything was kept on time and on budget – a massive undertaking all done voluntarily to support us - Mr David Williams. Thank you to all involved. I know this area will be of great value to our children into the future.
