  • Our Vision Ambassadors

    Fri 26 May 2023

Today we held our half-termly Vision Ambassadors worship in school. This is a chance to reflect on the school’s vision and values, think about aspects of our Collective Worship from the previous half term, and also celebrate and recognise the achievements of our pupils. Each half term, teachers elect two children for their class who have demonstrated a commitment to ‘walking the walk’ when it comes to our shared vision.

    Our Vision

     'Acorns to Mighty Oaks'

We are acorns growing to mighty oaks.

Our roots are in Christian teachings and in a loving, supportive village and church family.

Our branches are strong moral character and a love of learning.

Our fruit will be fulfilling lives that make a positive difference in the world.

“They will be called the oaks of righteousness.”   Isaiah 61: v1-3

This half term the following children were chosen and received certificates to show our appreciation of their daily commitment:

Red                        Yellow                  Blue                       Purple                  Green                   Silver                    Gold

George                 Evie R                    Savina                   Millie                     Cian                        Amy                      William
Avaani                 Jocelyn                   Bella                      Morgan                 Ola                         George                 Ted

Well done to them, and to all of our children who put so much into their learning each day.

  • Ceramic Workshop with Katie Netley

    Fri 19 May 2023

Silver and Yellow Classes have each had a ceramics workshop with local artist, Katie Netley. Their wonderful creation was brought to school on Wednesday and installed as a centrepiece in our pond area. It’s wonderful to look at and there are so many individual touches that the children added to it. This project could not have been done without the help of the Arts Society of Grayshott, the Fircroft Trust and our wonderful PTA. Over 50 children took part in making this and they should be very proud of the finished article. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a walk to the pond area and have a peek through the fence. You can find more information about Katie’s work at www.katienetleyceramics.com

  • Thank you for visiting us Mary Seacole

    Fri 12 May 2023

Blue class had a special visitor this week. Mary Seacole came in to help the children learn all about the Crimean War and her important work as a nurse. They learned about the values of citizenship and supporting others and had the opportunity to do some role play.

Mary Seacole funded her own trip to Crimea, now part of Ukraine, where she established the British Hotel with Thomas Day, a relative of her husband, Edwin. The hotel provided a place of respite for sick and recovering soldiers. At the time, Mary was as well-known in Britain as Florence Nightingale. Mary’s hotel near Balaclava was very close to the fighting. Mary was able to visit the battlefield, sometimes under fire, to nurse the wounded. Indeed, she nursed sick soldiers so kindly that they called her ‘Mother Seacole’.

  • Coronation Capers!

    Fri 05 May 2023

There has been lots going on in school this week getting ready for King Charles’ Coronation. There has been all sorts happening – making flags, making sandwiches, designing crowns, tea parties and special events run by our PTA. This has given everyone the chance to work together and be a community, which is what occasions like this should be all about after all
