  • Thanks to Grayshott Cricket Club

    Fri 31 Mar 2023

On Monday morning coaches from Grayshott Cricket Club came to run sessions for Yellow, Blue and Purple Class. The children had a go at bowling, fielding, batting and clapping! They all really enjoyed starting the week with a bit of sport and the coaches were impressed by the enthusiasm and skills of our budding cricketers. The club is one of the biggest in the country but there is always room for more members. Your children will have come home with a leaflet about how to sign up if they are keen to play some more.

  • Totem Pole Workshop

    Fri 24 Mar 2023

Silver Class had a special workshop on Monday. They worked with Katie Netley – the Ceramic Storyteller - to create sections for a huge totem pole that will stand on the lawn in our pond area. The children created textures, animals and plants to make up our nature themed art installation which will be finished in time for the Hidden Gardens of Grayshott event in May. Katie will be coming back after Easter with the pieces that we made and then it will be Yellow Class’ turn. They will be painting the sections. It was a great day and the children worked with great care, precision and flair.

  • British Science Week

    Fri 10 Mar 2023

Next week is British Science Week and here at school we are joining in with the fun. We are suspending our usual timetable in favour of lots of practical, hands-on science experiences. Your children will be engaging in scientific investigations and brushing up on their predicting, observing, measuring, recording, concluding and evaluating skills. We'll kick off the week by recapping what is meant by science, in our whole school assembly and unpicking what is meant by this year's theme which is 'Connections'. The children will also find out more about the Poster Competition that we are running throughout the week - a member of the British Science Association will be judging this nationally with amazing prizes - there are also awards in school too. On Tuesday, the children will gather in their Houses and teachers will be guiding them through some exciting, dramatic and somewhat messy practical sessions. They will get the chance to work together across age groups. The icing on the cake is going to be Friday's Science Fair in the hall (see below). If your child has something to enter, please bring items to the office on Friday morning and we will safely store them in the community room until 2.30pm on Friday when you child will have some time to set up. We look forward to seeing (and probably also hearing and mopping up) lots of wonderful science.

    Fri 03 Mar 2023

Congratulations and thank you to Mrs Ashton-Smith, whose hard work has earned the school a Green Tree Gold Award from the Woodland Trust. Mrs Ashton-Smith and the rest of the team have been working hard to raise awareness and get children interested in the outdoor space. The next step is the prestigious Platinum Award.
